easiest way is YAST, im not sure if RH uses yast but type in yast and the console (with root priv.) and look for network configuration something like that, everything you want will be there. if you dont have yast then look for a file in /etc called hostname, use that to change your hostname. to set your ip address, i think, im not sure, use ifconfig, see man ifconfig for how to bind the ip address to your network interface.

I am trying to set variables by 'while' and it is fine inside, but after completting the loop all changes are lost:

There is a linux server in my team where everyone is using xterm to connect to the server and work.
Problem is I'm unable to find the ipaddress of the xterm user. It just shows the display as "localhost".
