The wildcard in the case statement will only catch $VAR when it does not match as the ;; at the end makes it skip the rest of the checks when it hits a match.

It seems to me you'll either have to type all your codes into a case statement or into a file - it's up to you really.



My way of doing it using a grep was just a suggestion of another way, I thought you might already have a file in the format of

word 1
word 2
word 3
word 4
etc.

if you have a file

word 1 word 2
word 3
word 4

I know it won't work, you may be able to manipulate if somehow with sed/awk but I'm not sure.

       SQL::ReservedWords::PostgreSQL - Reserved SQL words by PostgreSQL

SYNOPSIS

	  if ( SQL::ReservedWords::PostgreSQL->is_reserved( $word ) ) {
	      print "$word is a reserved PostgreSQL word!";
	  }

DESCRIPTION

       Determine if words are reserved by PostgreSQL.

METHODS

       is_reserved( $word )
	   Returns a boolean indicating if $word is reserved by either PostgreSQL 7.3, 7.4, 8.0 or 8.1.

       is_reserved_by_postgresql7( $word )
	   Returns a boolean indicating if $word is reserved by either PostgreSQL 7.3 or 7.4.

       is_reserved_by_postgresql8( $word )
	   Returns a boolean indicating if $word is reserved by either PostgreSQL 8.0 or 8.1.

       reserved_by( $word )
