Also, the above ~ trick can work like this:

cd ~/

For example:
cp whatever ~/doc/whatever-dir/there/
would put it in /home/crazytrain/doc/whatever-dir/there/

Whereas :
cp whatever ~doc/whatever-dir/there/
would try to put "whatever" in /home/doc/whatever-dir/there/

cd into home directory ~

I'm trying to cd into a home directory with cd ~username_here and I'm getting the following error: ~username_here: does not exist The directory exists and I can directly go to it via cd /export/home/username_here without any problems. Any suggestions? (4 Replies)

Help with find command on a shortcut directory(Alias)???

Hi All, I am trying to find some files on a directory( /usr/users/xyz/log) which is an alias to another directory(/spare/log). My find works fine on /spare/log but it doesnt return anything when i use it on /usr/users/xyz/log. Any Ideas on how to proceed. Thanks in advance. Swamy (2 Replies)

ecaccess-file-dir -version|-help|-manual ecaccess-file-dir [-debug] [-long] [ecaccess-file] DESCRIPTION
List information about ecaccess-file (the $HOME directory by default). Sort entries alphabetically. The ecaccess-file is in the form [domain:][/user-id/]path. Please read the "Shell commands -> File Management" section of the "ecaccess" guide for more information on the ECaccess File System. ARGUMENTS
ecaccess-file (optional) The name of the ECaccess File/Directory to retrieve the details. OPTIONS
