Solaris Unix vs HP Unix, Could someone point out the major differences.
I have been performing Support to Solaris Unix for about 6 years, now I am interviewing for a HP Unix position. Could someone point out the major differences? Should it be an easy transition?

1, What are the differences between the two in terms of kernel (I'm used to /stand for all)
2, What hardware do they run on?

I am using bash on two different unix versions and for some reason the commands operate slightly differently. For example, 'ls * -la' gives me an error on one unix system, but works fine on a different system. The versions of unix are actually OS x and linux, and both systems are running GNU bash... I am not using root user but file permissions seem to be fine...

install-solaris install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation, install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer. The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation: For SPARC machines: 128 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 128 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 384 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation For x86 machines: 256 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 256 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 512 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea- tures available. install-solaris exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should be invoked only from there.
