Networking Problems On Linux

first try to type with no capitals ;-p (or only used usefull).
first some small question what do ou see when you ifconfig (with this command you can see your network config).
if you see the right ip by the netwerk card to the outside can you ping to the gateway of your provider.
if that also works try to add an route.
something like route add -net 0.0.0.0/0 gw "gatewayip"
if you didn't see an ip then config your computer with yast
(suse) or netconf (red hat). then if you have an ip to the network card do the above
second what provider do you have. (if the above is not helping you).

I need help. I have a cable modem. It has an USB out. I didn't want to buy a router. So I hooked my WinXP computer up to the cable modem by USB. I have following problems with RHEL 5.2 Desktop installation
ftp, telnet, ssh and web are not working. Web browser tries to connect to host but eventually fail with timeout. ftp, telnet and ssh simply hung, nothing happens. Basically all protocols will end up in timeout.

This file was added in Shorewall 4.4.15 and is used to define routes to be added to provider routing tables. The columns in the file are as follows.
