I think the original poster wanted their xterm title bar to dynamically change according to the current working directory. This is possible using escape sequences, and has nothing to do with command line arguments. See <A HREF="http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/Xterm-Title.html">here</A> for a HOWTO on this subject.
