Seriously though, modern Unix systems can make many configuration changes without requiring a reboot. This is one good example. The "net stop" command I gave you will halt the networking, and the "net start" will restart it. So your downtime will be a few seconds while you type these commands, instead of waiting to reboot which can take forever on an HP-UX box

1) #ifconfig -a (to check the interface)

I am using aix 5300-07, I am facing strange issue in aix.
I have changed the ip address and gateway of aix server , it is showing the right ip address but it is taking old gateway ip address.

halt, poweroff, reboot may be used to halt, power-off or reboot the machine. OPTIONS
The following options are understood: --help Prints a short help text and exits. --halt Halt the machine, regardless of which one of the three commands is invoked. -p, --poweroff Power-off the machine, regardless of which one of the three commands is invoked. --reboot Reboot the machine, regardless of which one of the three commands is invoked. -f, --force Force immediate halt, power-off, reboot.
