I would like to add few points,
prior opening to new file through dbg_file_open function, close the previously opened file, else the last batch of writes done to the previous file is not guaranteed to be flushed.

the need for char tmp[256] in write_debug_file ???

Can you help. My server sunning solaris 9 on x86 platform pretty much hung for a few hours... I could not use telnet or ssh to the box - it kept refusing connection. The memchr() function locates the first occurrence of c (converted to an unsigned char) in string b. The memrchr() function locates the last occurrence of c (converted to an unsigned char) in string b. RETURN VALUES
