5 at our house...

My girlfriend uses a 17" HP laptop (Core2 Duo w/ 3GB RAM and Blu-Ray)
My son uses a 15" Compaq laptop (Celeron) for homework (and gaming, I'm sure)

I have a Solaris 10 server (Core2 Duo E6750 w/ 4GB RAM)
a WinXP Gaming computer that I need to upgrade to 64 (or Vista 64) to take advantage of RAM (Core2 Duo E7200 w/ 4GB RAM and Blu-Ray)
And one other computer that I generally use to VPN into various client locations (AthlonXP 1600+ w/ 1GB RAM)

I have a couple of old laptops that I don't use - a Gateway and an old Thinkpad - that I haven't used since they started making 2GB USB devices. I don't use a computer *while* I'm traveling - just when I'm at work or at home. I'd give them away, but nobody wants that kind of junk these days.

I am thinking about picking up an iPhone. That will increase the number to 6, won't it?

I have three desktops hooked up to internet with a relatively highspeed (8Mb) dsl-connection. One I built myself (500 MHz, 384 ram, Debian stable, one is an amd 1,3 GHz,256 ram, Xp + OpenSuse and the third is Celeron 2,4 GHz, Debian Lenny + virtual xp.

I have 5, but one of them i rarely power on.
01. Windows XP Pro laptop - Office
02. PCLinuxOS Desktop - main, day to day desktop + PVR
03. Ubuntu 8.10 Server - Testing new OS desktop
04. CentOS 5.1 / Solaris 10 with 2 containers -- Testing/Scripting Server
05. Windows Vista Ultimate - rarely powered on, used by my kid to play games.

Looks like they were wrong a few decades ago... I guess this computer thing isn't going away.

1 up early till late
1 up mostly during the day
1 up intermittently during the day
and today doing unix stuff, 2 more for a total of 5.

Some days more, some days less. Capable of 11 networked and 3 laptops but never have needed more than 6 at one time.
