The Switch to DST 2007 --- How Did It Go?

We have been discussing the 2007 changes to DST (Daylight Saving Time) for some time now. We hope that everything went well. But did it? Let us know by voting or by posting your experiences here. The poll will automatically close in 45 days.

No problems. Of course, none of our systems were going to be affected anyway.

Same for us, for our "home" operations. However there were a few last minute headaches with patches being updated at the last minute, which had to go through test cycles before heading out to out customers.

Hm, I just got an internal mail that says we applied over 1700 DST related patches over the past 6 weeks or so. And this is even though we aren't using/working in any US timezones. Just because the orders to be compliant with the DST change came in all the way from the very top.

Dumb.

I answered "minor problems". We patched well over 5000 Unix servers the past 3 months and had only 2 with issues Sunday. Those were both fixed within a couple hours. There is also one app that isn't responding right but it isn't clear why. Luckily I don't have to worry about that, the development/programming group is working on that issue.

We did not have any problems with our HPUX superdomes or our Linux clusters (1500 'machines'). Not even any hiccups with Oracle (what a pleasant surprise that was).
Exchange and outlook were a very different story. Nothing went correctly. Lots of issues. I'm just glad that I have nothing to do with our MS servers.

The only real problem we had (I selected minor) was with cron not being restarted after applying patches on a few machines (four Solaris boxes; two 7 and two 8). It was discovered because the same thing occurred on a few of the Linux boxes and I decided to do a quick run through and check the Solaris boxes.

All of my personal servers rolled over without a hitch though Smilie
