Do you like new GNOME3 GUI ?

I was disappointed with new GNOME3.
It is not possible to create new shortcuts on Desktop or to
create new file or folder and icons remind me on smartphone launchers Smilie

For me that is not serious GUI for servers and not even for a Desktop. Hope for better future Smilie

I joke. I've not used the new one though.

I tried it but didn't like it. It does not allow full customization as -say- KDE does... I could not even find any tool or menu that let me fully configure the GUI (colors, effects, menu bar size, scroll behavior, etc).

There are a few features that I do like, like the unified menu bar similar to the one found in OSX (though this was maybe Unity in action and not Gnome 3?) but besides that it feels clumsy and weird.

I've swithed to KDE 4 on my desktop PC since then.

Not a joke for me. The worst servers at customers I've seen so far were those where the original "admin" required a GUI to do anything.

It does in fact allow full customization but you need to use GNOME Shell extensions and custom themes. It is mainly written in JavaScript and uses a subset of CSS3 to style the UI.

For simple customization download and use the GNOME Tweak Tool.

I try the last Ubuntu, but I go back to the "old" version for Gnome.

No! Dropped it like a hot potato.

Why Gnome assumes that a non palm device or tablet user would find a interface designed for these useful on a desktop/laptop is beyond me. I believe that Gnome 2 was so good that the designers decided to destroy it. It's Xfce for me in the future.
