To fix an "issue" we're having I need to update SHMMAX from 1GB to 2Gb, it's a dynamic parameter so am just wondering how flexible it really is.
As Oracle is running on the server do I need to shut that down to change the parameter or will it just take the change on the fly?

I need to change the source port number of an outgoing TCP packet. First I have to bind the socket to a particular port(suppose 9001) but when I send the TCP packet I want to change the source port number lets say to 9002 still letting the socket to be bound to the same old port (9001).... On Aix 5.2, we changed the parameters tcp_keepinit, tcp_keepintvl and tcp_keepidle with the no command.
tunrestore -R is present in inittab
in the directory /etc/tunables we can clearly see the inclusion of parameters during reboot, including the file lastboot.log
