Regarding Shell Script
Hi!
I'm a beginner in shell script i have done scripting in linux (fedora 4), now when i try the shell script in solaris it gives me error.
Do anybody tell me is there a difference in shell scripting in linux and unix?

There are a few differences. Which shell to use for example. What error are you getting?

As far as SOLARIS and FC script is concern there wont be major difference ... Please post your error to get the correct answers ... The shell will be the same for both ... Smilie

Not always. Depends on versions and distributions. He may be used to using /bin/bash which may not be available on the Solaris install he has (/bin/ksh). That will generate an error. Generally though, the versions are pretty similar. I've found that even the same shells from different OS's can operate subtly differently. AIX's ksh has given me a couple of errors that work on a Solaris ksh for instance.
