Export path ????
Hi

I have the below script:
Code:
           read path
           if [ $path = 203 ] || [ $path = 204 ] || [ $path = 205 ]; then
           cd /aa/$path/amisys
           export OMNIDEX_HOME=/opt/omnidex
           elif [ $path = 310 ] || [ $path = 311 ]; then
           cd /aa/$path/amisys
           export OMNIDEX_HOME=/opt/omni40206
           fi;

can some correct the above script!!!

when i run this script the path is not exported.

Your variables (OMNIDEX_HOME and OMNIDEX_HOME) workable during script execution.
When script is done you data will be lost.
Couse you cannot change meaning of variables of parent shell

if you want to use these variables OMNIDEX_HOME and OMNIDEX_HOME after the script execution.
run the script in current shell with .(dot ) operator
. scriptname
note there is a space between . and scriptname

vi - replacing a relative path with absolute path in a file

Hi, I have a file with about 60 lines of path: app-defaults/boxXYZ....... I want to change this to /my/path/goes/here/app-defaults/boxXYZ, but of course vi doesn't like the regualr :s/old/new/ command. Is there any other quick way to do this? Thanks ;) (2 Replies)
