List of files

I have 3 files in directory X, below are the files and its contents.
Code:
ls -lrt

File1.txt
File2.txt
File3.txt

>cat File1.txt

dfgjhf fjd FIRST

>cat File2.txt

dfgjhf fjd SECOND FIRST

>cat File3.txt

dfgjhf fjd

I want to list out files with key word "FIRST" not having "SECOND", so the final list will be

File1.txt

Is there any command to this ?

thanks in advance.

Hello,

Please try the following code for same, also it's a request please use code tags while posting commands.

Code:
awk '/FIRST/ && !/SECOND/ {print FILENAME}' file_file_file*

Here I have names of files like file_file_file1, file_file_file2 and file_file_file3.

Output will be as follows.

Code:
file_file_file1

Thanks,
R. Singh

Prints a list of of the files, and their content:
Code:
grep FIRST File[0-9].txt | grep -v SECOND

Get only filenames:
Code:
grep FIRST File[0-9].txt|grep -v SECOND|sed s/\:/' '/g|awk '{print $1}'

there can be n number of files , just giving Direcotry not giving file names,

Also when -v is given it will find in the current line only not in the entire file.

need to find all files in the root directory contacting & not containing few words given above.

Whether its limited to a single line or not, its found in the file.
Thus, the file gets listed.

Worst case w/could be to remove double entries of filenames, if FIRST shows up on multiple lines within a file.

However, its true, if a file contains both, FIRST and SECOND on diffrent lines,

So, you could parse each file by itself to verify...
Code:
for F in F*txt;do if grep -q FIRST $F; then grep -qv SECOND $F && echo $F; fi; done

Looks like this for me:
Code:
[sea@P50 ~]$ ll F*
-rw-rw-r--. 1 sea sea 15 15. Apr 16:46 File1.txt
-rw-rw-r--. 1 sea sea 22 15. Apr 16:46 File2.txt
-rw-rw-r--. 1 sea sea 10 15. Apr 16:46 File3.txt
[sea@P50 ~]$ for F in F*txt;do  if grep -q FIRST $F; then grep -qv SECOND $F && echo $F; fi; done
File1.txt
[sea@P50 ~]$
