Print encode without "file" command
Hi all, i need to write a script that takes as an argument the name of a file
which is known to contain Italian text (unformatted) and print to the terminal the name of encoding with which the text is represented. All this, without the command FILE. can someone help me?

In what way file would have been of a help?
What OS are you using? Depending the understanding of what you ask, it can be quite a challenge!
I have issues with files that are supposed to be in a given encoding and trying to convert and correct is already difficult, so not knowing the encoding to start with...
