Passing vaiables to first script

Hi All,

I have script 1 which is calling script2

Script2 contains vaiables declaration but i want to use that declared name in script1.(like return in C language)

by exporting the variable in script2, we can use that in script1

if you run script1 then you will get the output as 10

If I understand vivek right (although the "like return in C" confuses me) the variables of the child should be visible to the parent, not vice versa, so the child script has to be sourced. The syntax for ksh/bash would be a dot and space prefixing the scriptname when its called:

Edit: well, i was slow, but export is not needed here. It's used to put the variable into the environment a subshell inherts. Sourcing was the important part...
