substitute (')

I usually use :

Code:
awk '{gsub(/xxx/,"yyy");print}'
to substitute xxx with yyy.

I have a problem substitute an expression like

Code:
x ' y
Because of the ( ' )

Any idea on how to get over this problem?

Thanks

Something like this will work:

Code:
echo "foo'bar" | awk -v q="'" '{ gsub( q, "X" ); print }'

Code:
echo "x ' y" | awk '{gsub(/x \047 y/, "yyy")}1'

In a better off, use the octal value \047 for the single quote (') character.
