Failed depencies: libmysqlclient.so.16 is needed

I'm trying to install something on my server that requires mysqlclient, but looking at my RPM package list I have it ("MySQL-client-5.0.91-0.glibc23"). Doing a locate on libmysqlclient gives me this:

Quote:
[root@host.domain.net] ~ >> locate libmysqlclient
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient.so
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient.so.15
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient_r.so
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient_r.so.15
/usr/lib64/libmysqlclient_r.so.15.0.0
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.a
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.la
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.so
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.a
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.la
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so
/usr/local/cpanel/lib64/libmysqlclient.so.14
For some reason it looks like I'm missing libmysqlclient.so.16. Does anyone know why this could be? How do I go about getting it? I'm currently running CentOS 5.

Thanks a lot.

Code:
yum provides *libmysqlclient.so.16*

may tell you what provides this library. Also are you sure you are after the 64-bit versions ?

Thanks for the reply! I'm getting this:

Quote:
root@host.domain.net] ~ >> yum provides *libmysqlclient.so.16*

What do you mean I'm after the 64-bit version? All I know is that my operating system is on an x64 architecture.

Thanks a lot.

I found this article on RHEL/Centos v5 issues with libmysqclient.so.X files.
Working around the Percona MySQL RPM dependancy conflict on RHEL/CentOS 5 church of default

The solution seems to be to download a "compat" rpm that installs all the different versions of libmysqlclient.so.{12,14,15,16}. A link to this rpm (downloadable directly from downloads.mysql.com) is here:
http://downloads.mysql.com/archives/...el5.x86_64.rpm

(Please, for your own security, read the article - you should never just download rpm's from untrusted locations)

Cheers...
