how to clear data on / (root)

hello,

/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 mounted on /

it shows 95% full
what steps i need to follow in order to clear data???
what files i need to clear???

How big is the file system?

Check for core dumps in /var/crash/`hostname`/

Clear logs if you don't have a seperate /var partition...

Look into /var/log/*

And do a:
Code:
du -sm /* | sort -n

Then nail it down ie.
Code:
du -sm /var/log/* |sort -n

These will print you directory/file sizes in MB's

I had a question in my test which asked where suppose user B has a program with 's' bit set. Can user A run this program and gain root privileges in any way? I suppose not as the suid program run with privileges of owner and this program will run with B's privileges and not root. (1 Reply)
