I've got a server that I need to send a break to.. But I have a Windows keyboard through a KVM switch.. I've tried Ctrl D and ctrl break and its not working..

You state "Windows keyboard through a KVM switch" - are you saying you are on the actual switch to get console, or are you on a laptop, connected to the switch?

If you are on a laptop (or PC) and connected to the server via telnet (through whatever means) you could possible send a break via telnet - but first explain your set up before trying -

telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
...
on server console...
...
Control ] will bring you back to telnet prompt
help send will give you different options
send brk should send a break to the server (although the switch may pick it up - it matters what your set up is)

You also need to know if your server is allowing a break to be excepted - what OS/version is this (I'm assuming Solaris because of the Stop-A).

Control+Break.

Thank you for responding.. We actually tried the CTRL + ] and it didn't respond.. The only option we finally came up with was to pull a keyboard from another old sparc server and replace it which returned us to a prompt..
