problem with cd script

my shell is
Code:
TEST2-> echo $SHELL
/bin/ksh

i m at

Code:
TEST2-> pwd
/u01/app/oracle/admin/TEST/scripts

my script is
Code:
#!/bin/ksh
cd /u0$1/app

my goal is
when i do
Code:
 
TEST2-> ./cd.ksh 1

it has to cd /u01/app
and my pwd should be /u01/app
and if i do
Code:
 
./cd.ksh 2

it should bring me at pwd /u02/app

i want to change directory by simple command

is it possible....
can i insert cd command in scripts

please help me guys

That should work. Try putting 'echo $PWD' on the next line so it can prove where it is.

its not working as i do pwd

Place set -x on its own line following your shebang. It'll echo to screen and show what it's thinking.

cd works fine inside the script. But unless you source the script, it does so in an independent process, leaving your own current directory unchanged. Hence Methyl's suggestion of sourcing the script instead of executing it.
