PATH variable and script execution

Hello everyone,
I wrote a simple script (ksh) that I would like to be able to execute no matter where in the directory structure I am sitting at.
I typed
Code:
echo $PATH

to retrieve my path info and looking at that I decided the directory where to place my script. I copied the scripts to that directory and I made it executable.
When I am navigating through my directory structure I am not able to invoke that script!
Is there something else I need to do before I can actually be able to have unix find the script in my $PATH. Right now I can only execute it if I am sitting in the directory where the script resides or by giving the full path at time of invocation.
Hope you can help.
Thanks

Include your path to the script in PATH variable. Then you should be able to run from anywhere. But if you have another script with same name in another directory x and if you run that script from directory x then your script in directory x will run and not the intended script. Its advisable to use full path when running the script

It still does not execute. My script is locate in one of the branches listed in the PATH env variable. Yet I cannot execute the script from other locations, only if I cd to the location where the script resides, only then it will execute.
Thanks.

If you are using csh/tcsh for your login shell, type in:
Code:
rehash

and retry running your script.
if that doesn't work, or you're not using csh/tcsh for login shell.
please post the output of your PATH, and where you placed the file.
