Tar file

Hi Guys,

I have a s/w tar.zip file which was unizipped and untarred and extracted to a directory in windows.

Now when I try to place the contents of the file to my solaris ,machine and try installing the s/w, it says no packages found.

Could you pls let me know, how do I change it back into an .img file.

does it have to become a .img file? or can it also be for instance a .iso?
.iso files can be created with mkisofs found in the SUNWmkcd package.

Actually a .img file is created into 3 folders. I want to convert all the three into a single .img file.

could you please explain what exactly you are trying to achieve?
are you trying to create an archive, or a cd/dvd image, or something else?

if you provide more (and detailed) info regarding what you're trying to obtain specifically, you may find that the answers are more likely to be a solution to your issue.

Here is the description of my issue

The software which I am trying to install generally comes as tar.z file.
I used to unzip and untar it and install the software.

The same but new version of software is now placed on out shared drive. It is extracted into directories. I have 5 directories. Out of which 3 directories should be an .img file. I am not sure why they have extracted the .img file into directories.

I would like to get an .img file from the extracted directories, so that I can install s/w
