match dates
Hi all,

Does anybody know how the command to compare today's date with a unix file's date?

Try these commands:
find . -ctime 0 -name "*" True if the file's status was changed 0 days ago.

find . -mtime 0 -name "*" True if the file's data was modified 0 days ago.

Can you help me further by helping me to understand how I can use this to put into a vi command to accomplish something if two modified files ( identified prior) had been modified today. If one of none of the files had been modified today, then it will do nothing.
I realise that the time 0 means a factor of 24hr . this means that if I have a 0 , it means like 24 hours. However what i need is the date not the hrs. It may happen in less than 24 hrs but as long as the dates are different it is still consider valid. So is there another option for this?

The find command also has -newer that asks if a file is newer than a specified file. You will need a special test file that was last modified at midnight. You can create a file for this purpose with the "touch" command. The "touch" command allows you to specify a last time modified. You will need to build a timespec for midnight. Pipe the find command to "wc -l" to get a count. If that count is two, do something.
