ID in "ps -ef" but not in "who"

Hello!

I have a question for our experts Smilie

When I'm doing a "ps -ef" on the user t14, I found some processes.
So my user t14 sould work and be present, right?

But with the command "who", I don't find the user t14.

If someone have the solution and tell me why my system doesn't find the user that would be great! Smilie

Thanks!!

Code:
root@gen1603/tools/system/job> ps -ef|grep t14
     t14 15352 122418 0 05:12:41 - 0:00 /sepi/sys/bintp/sepacu -b iniacu.acu /sepi/pmc/bintp/majcex.acu 122418 8
     t14 16432 45414 0 04:06:05 - 5:31 oracleaquilon (DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq)))
     t14 45414 122418 0 04:06:05 - 1:38 /sepi/sys/bintp/sepacu -b iniacu.acu /sepi/sys/bintp/ora001.acu 122418 4
     t14 53786 122418 0 05:12:43 - 0:00 /sepi/sys/bintp/sepacu -b iniacu.acu /sepi/pmc/bintp/archfv.acu 122418 10

root@gen1603/tools/system/job> w|grep t14
root@gen1603/tools/system/job>

jobs are running with an id doesnt mean the id has to be logged in.

The jobs are used by a menu used by the user.
this is why I was waiting for a user connected

If a user creates a child process using your menu, then logs off, that user does not show in "who".

There are lots of users like "nobody" that cannot login ever, never show in "who", but can have active processes that show up in
Code:
ps -ef

.

Or may be these jobs are invoked remotely. You can run a ptree command on these PIDs and check.

Code:
ptree <PID>

ptree is not POSIX command, so it is possible that the OP does not have it, it is on Solaris. Linux has pstree.
