Hi,

I don't have a final solution for you, but a first work around I think.

Do the tar -tvf <archive> and redirect the output to a file. In the next step use this file together with a small quick and dirty script, which use the entries in the file and extract them each per each.

It is not fine, but you will extract all files in the tar archive.

Hi,

you should not create a tar file for each file, I mean you should create a ascii file with the listing of your tar archive, and use this listing to extract each file separately via a small script.

ascii file
------------

/foo/bar
/foo/bar2
...

tar xvf archive.tar /foo/bar
tar xvf archive.tar /foo/bar2
...

I know this will need some time :-) but I said, it is only a workaround, not a solution ;-)

Do you get any error messages? You might try switching to pax. It can read a tar archive.
