Patch update on sunfire 280R sparc for solaris 5.9
Hi,

i just finished installing solaris 5.9 and I'm looking for the tools to tell me if i should update the patches or how to make sure that the current patches are ok?

just download the latest patch cluster and install it. there is no free (there is "smpatch" which is part of solaris 10 but i don't know if it is in solaris 9 also) sun tool to check for patches. a third party tool is pca (patch check advanced) which is for free afair.

Would agree with DukeNuke2, just download and install.

Some say proactive patching, some say reactive when your system experiences a problem. Depends on the requirements of your setup I suppose.

SunFire 280R maintenance LED is on and no display

I got the system couple of days back from one of my friend. Last night I turned it on and I noticed that maintenance LED is on.
