Hi,
Does anyone have check list of installing solaris 9?
I will be installing solaris 9 on Sun Fire V880 .
Please help me.

What sort of checklist?

What are all the packages/patches needs to be installed.
/var, /usr, /opt parition sizes etc.
mirroring the root partition ...

sun support service uses a checklist for solaris installation called eis-checklist (enterprise installation service). if you have a service plan there is maybe a chance to get hand on this list....

BTW is there a free download of Sun Solistice disksuite...
I do not find it...
I tried once it used disconnect right away...

sds or slvm (solaris logical volume manager) is part of the os. the config file is located in "/etc/lvm/md.tab". or read the man pages "man metadb" and "man metainit".

I got it.
Its in Solaris 2 of 2 cds and its under EA directory.
I could load it.

Command to list or view the files in .pkg (solaris) and how to extract without installing

In Linux for .rpm we can list or view the files using the command rpm -qpl <file.rpm> and to extract, the command is rpm2cpio <file.rpm> | cpio -idvh I would like to know the commands which has same functionality as above for solaris ( .pkg) Thanks in Advance (5 Replies)
