From SUN dated Oct 2005:
Quote:
This table defines tape capacities and density options for the Sun DLT 4000
and Sun DLT 4700 Tape Library. Tape capacity is determined by the type of
tape cartridge that is installed in the drive.

Density Tape types
specifiers CompacTape IV CompacTape IIIxt CompacTape III
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
l, h (Native) 20GB 15GB 10GB
m, c (compression) 40GB 30GB 20GB
So it matters what type of compression you use and what type of tape you use. And this doesn't guarantee you will get the full amount.

There are also new tapes and drives that will get higher amounts of data onto tape. Check out the papers on Quantum.com
