er,.. actually you are the one getting confused. The statement "Solaris zones are not available in Solaris 9 " is correct... it is not the same as saying "you can't create a Solaris 9 zone"..

.. but anyway, a Solaris 9 zone wouldn't know it is a zone, however, if one were to log into a box and try to figure out if it was a standalone server or a zone without knowing anything about it, commands like uname, df, mount, format, would give clear indications...

As the OP is using Solaris 9 zones, commenting such zones do not exist was the confusing statement, not my comment.

No one said Solaris 9 zones didn't exist.. what was said is that zones are not available IN Solaris 9, as in you cannot configure zones WITHIN Solaris 9.
