Cannot delete file

Hi there,
We have a schedule job which does a dump to disk via cron.
Your "cron" job on server
cp -fpr /oracle/SAP/oraarch /dump/brbackup #Oracle Archived Log - Backup

The cron job is throwing an error message which is shown below,
It can't copy the file ".inodes" and produced the following output:
cp: cannot open /oracle/SAP/oraarch/.inodes: Not owner

This is the partial listing of the directory where the source files reside
oot@server # ls -al
total 20782784
drwxr-xr-x 5 oraepp dba 24576 Dec 3 00:03 .
drwxr-xr-x 25 oraepp dba 4096 Jun 5 2009 ..
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Apr 15 2008 .archive
-r-------- 1 root root 1048576 Apr 25 2009 .inodes
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Apr 15 2008 .stage
-rw-r----- 1 oraepp dba 24182272 Jul 16 00:03 arch1_1401_123567.db
....
The ".inodes" file is a hidden file

root@server # ls -al .inodes
-r-------- 1 root root 1048576 Apr 25 2009 .inodes

We have tried to remove the file but unable to do so, and complains "Not owner"
root@server # rm .inodes
rm: .inodes not removed: Not owner

We don't know why we can't delete the file
1)Is it because of the permission?
2) What file is this? Is this oracle related file?
3) Can we remove it?

Please someone help.

Hi,

1)Is it because of the permission?
Yes. As you do not have the proper permission.
2) What file is this? Is this oracle related file?
This is Oracle archieve file in /oracle/SAP/oraarch.
3) Can we remove it?
Try login as Oracle SuperUser.

Hope this will give some direction. Thanks.

This is a clustered system.
The .inodes file is generated automatically by qfs filesystem
It catalogs file inode information under the mount point.
Can we delete the .inodes? What is the impact?

If it's generated by the file system, why would you want to delete it?
