For most *nix systems they are in /etc
/etc/host.allow
/etc/host.deny

They are file that adds security to your inetd.conf file. Usually, one or the other is used.

If host.allow is used, then everything is denied EXCEPT for the IP/hostnames that are listed on single lines in the /etc/host.allow file.

If host.deny is used, then I believe everything is accepted except for the IPs/Hostnames listed on single lines in the /etc/host.deny line.

hosts.allow and hosts.deny are only used by binaries that use the libwrap library, to check run:
# ldd <binary> | grep libwrap
If you see libwrap.so.* then the binary you are testing will take notice of hosts.allow and hosts.deny.

Hi TonyFullerMalv, your comments are not answering the OP's question infact. What OllieTech has explained is good enough for understanding I guess Smilie

Hi This files are not present by default in SUN OS ,

This files are using to restrict the desktop for accessing the server through telnet.

and you have to install TCP wrapper package for this, Without installing package no use of this file

If you need to restrict the desktop to access the server then you need to create this files in /etc folder and owner of this files should be root:sys and permission of this file should ne 600

and put the ip of desktop in this file and refresh the inetd demon OK

Thanks
