Solaris

Hi all

I am new to solaris. trying to install solaris 10 on V490 server on which solaris 8 is installed. i want to do initial installation and while installing am getting following error..

console login services cannot run.
svc.startd: could not exec() sulogin: i/o error
requesting system maintainance mode
refer /lib/svc/share/README for more information.

every time system goes in loop with this error.

if anyone know please tell me what to do.

Do you have storage foundation installed????

how can i check if the storage founder is installed?

i had already removed Fiber Cables of Storage. tape drive is also not attached.

if you can go on to single user mode, run the following command

pkginfo | grep -i vrts

You should see packages like:
VRTSvm
VRTSfs

i am booting from CDROM and want to do initial installation. then if packages of previously installed OS have any impact?

no.. they should not have an impact

is the cdrom downloaded? was it checked with checksum? do you have lateset obp updates installed? which solaris 10 version do you use?
