I have no idea what you're asking here. When you create a flar, you get everything on the box unless you exclude it explicitly. Everything means everything. This includes /var/adm/messages. When you do a "fresh install" from the flar, you get (almost) everything put back. And this includes /var/adm/messages.

Imagine a system with /var/adm/messages containing only the line "fred". You make a flar of this system. The flar contains a copy of messages with the line "fred".

Now you take a system with a /var/adm/messages containing only the line "henry". You do a fresh install from that flar. Yes, the messages file containing "henry" is scrubbed away as the disk is initialized. But now you copy the flar. This is the flar with line "fred" in its messages file. After the flar is installed, your /var/adm/messages file now contains the line "fred". So you have a "new" messages file just like you have new everything else. But it all comes from the flar.

I understood that what ever is present in the flash image, that will go and sit in the system if we do an installation with it.

So from this, i can draw that we need to some how remove the older messages before flar is taken, if we dont want them(older ones) to be in newly installed system. Please be kind enough to confirm this.
