check for a file on a remote machine
Hi,

Can someone tell me how to check if a file exists on a remote machine using rexec command?I'm using ksh.

The simple way is

rexec hostname command

it will prompt to enter the password. Once you enter the password of the remote machine, it will run the command on the remote machine..

I hope this will clear ...

ssh would be another way of doing it. Example shown below:

machine_name's password: 
/home/nua7/useful_scripts/temp.txt

@nua - i'm not able to use ssh on my server, there is no manual entry for it either,Thanks anyways!

@sai - The command u gav works but the problem here is, i gotta check in my script,if a file exists on remote machine n if the file exists i need to take a backup of it in the local machine.How do proceed?
