Hi Folks ,

I am asking a basic question it mite sound a silly one also but still i want to ask to clear my knowledge , lets say i have a team of 4 people and we login to ssh terminal unix box through common credentials that is same for all of us .

Now out of team of 4 people one of my team member have changed something in file but which particular individual has done that there in no way to know but i know that if someone has changed then his ip will also of that session is recorded in unix box

so is there any way in which at least i can capture machine name who has mke the changes in that file or can i get the machine name or machine ip who has done the changes in that file in last 5 days

Most types of Linux/Unix have some kind of auditing suite available (some for free, some not) which could track changes/actions. It will also be more secure in terms of tracking to have each of your team have their personal accounts to login via ssh and then just do a sudo su - <username> to become this shared user.
