Need help on UNIX script

Hi All ,
I am aware of unix command but new to the scripting arena. If you kindly help me on the below requirement ,that will really helpful.

Suppose in directory(/user/bisq/test*.txt) 3 files are present. These files are fixed width files .We need to fetch few fields from these files(1-5,10-15,18-22) and need to redirect it to a output file(test_output.txt) where all the records(records will be appended) of those these 3 files will be present.

Code:
/user/bisq/test1.txt
/user/bisq/test2.txt
/user/bisq/test3.txt

Code:
cat test1.txt|cut -b 1-5,10-15,18-22 > test_output.txt

If anyone kindly help on the above requirement ,it will be very much appreciated.

How about
Code:
cat test*.txt|cut -b 1-5,10-15,18-22 > test_output.txt

EDIT:

or better:
Code:
cut -b 1-5,10-15,18-22 test*.txt > test_output.txt

Hi Rudi ,
From the below code ,can the all the records from the three file will be appended in the output file(test_ouput.txt)?

suppose test1 has 5 records ,test2 has 20 records and test3 has 10 records ,then test_output should contain 35 records.
We also would like print like
Code:
 test1 processing successful
                                      test2 processing successful
                                      test3 processing successful

Don't we need any loop to append the all records from the 3 files to output file(test_ouput.txt) and also printing for the same. How to implement these ?

Hi ,
i have tried in the below way.Could you help me is there any better way to do that ?

Code:
#! /bin/bash

A=/user/bisq/test*.txt
cut -b 1-5,10-15,18-22 test*.txt > test_output.txt
echo "Processing successful :$A"

After executing the code ,result correctly populating into test_output.txt and printing is happening in the below way :
Code:
Processing successful :/user/bisq/test*.txt

What "better way" would be needed?

EDIT:

Wildly guessing that you want the processed files listed: try
Code:
echo Processing successful : test*.txt

Please be aware that /user/bisq/test*.txt and test*.txt can be entirely different things!
