Call script b.sh from a.sh
Hi ,

I wanted to how to do the below.

Lets say I have:-
Code:
a.sh 
b.sh

Two scripts. My requirement is:-
  1. I will call b.sh from a.sh
  2. b.sh can run in parallel to a.sh but only need to be triggered after few part of the a.sh is completed. SO one call irrespective of the status or completeness of job b.sh, rest of the part of a.sh should run.

Please suggest.

If you CALL b from a, you want to get a result back, and you need to stop a's execution for it. If you RUN it in background ("after few part of the a.sh is completed"), the two scripts can run in parallel without interfering. waitcan then return its exit code.

After those required lines in of a.sh, you can simply execute b.sh to the background, annd continue with a.sh.

echo "inside a.sh"

./b.sh &

echo "b.sh runs as $! in bg"
