Perl regex question
Hi Guys,
I am trying to work out the regular expression that I would need to capture the below information. I need to find the word SAC followed by using the data thats contained on the next line. I have other expressions that i have configured but none are where the output is on two seperate lines.

Data needing to be caputured (but is contained across 2 lines).
Code:
SAC
                      0xf8a3

An example of the other expressions i have used is below.

                        $procode = $1;

Anything that will help would be much apprecaited.

Not clear.
The natural solution is to use one RE for line1 and another RE for line2.
Impossible to say more with the piece of information that you have given.
How is your code sample related to the sample input?
Do you have a loop? If yes, what's in what variable for each loop cycle?

Perl reads, by default, lines using the newline as the delimiter
You can not match what it is not there.

To read multiple lines chucks, you can change the default
$/=""; for grabbing paragraphs
$/= undef; for grabbing the whole file

After that you need to modify how matches occur, by letting it know that you want to use the (.) to match newline as well and that you are using multiline mode so the `^' and `$' do not get in the way.
You do that with the modifiers `m' and `s'

I am having trouble parsing rpm filenames in a shell script.. I found a snippet of perl code that will perform the task but I really don't have time to rewrite the entire script in perl.
