I tried to use these lines of codes but can someone corrects it for me please:

gawk -f program.awk FILE2 FILE1

OFS=ORS=" "

if(FILENAME==ARGV[2]){

Have you tried RudiC's answer?

You could also do this:

Code:
awk 'NR==FNR { A[$1]=1; next } $1 in A' file2 file1

Note the order of the files. You want the list of rows first, then the actual data file.
