sed in HP UX

sed in HP UX
I am trying to replace a word in a file and rename it ...but this doesn't work in HP UX (11.31)
Code:
sed 's/\<11042012\>/SUN_11112012/g' < test.sql > test.sql.mod


The same command on LINUX works fine.

Can somebody help me with the right syntax for HP UX.

I ran it on HP-UX B.11.23 & B.11.31 and it worked!

Can you post sample text from test.sql file in code tags?

Your search pattern is wrong.

Correction:-

sed 's/11042012/SUN_11112012/g' < test.sql > test.sql.mod

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the pattern. It's just that your sed implementation on the HP-UX version does not support word boundaries (\< and \>).
You may have a go with this perl snippet:

perl -pe 's/\b11042012\b/SUN_11112012/g' < test.sql > test.sql.mod

Though this will work, it might not work as expected.

i made a script to update a lot of xml files. to save me some time. Ran it and it replaced all the the files with a 0kb file.
