Java List file without the bumff
Hi All,

I'm doing the following...
bash%> x=`ls *.sh |wc -l`;echo $x
3
bash%>
Which is great !!

However when there are no files I get:-
bash%> x=`ls *.boo |wc -l`;echo $x
*.boo: No such file or directory
0
bash%>

How can I get back just 0, without "*.boo: No such file or directory"

$ if [ -f *.boo ]; then x=`ls *.boo |wc -l`;echo $x ; else echo "0"; fi

Thanks very much for the reply,
It works fine if you have one file which ends in *.boo.... but if I have lots of files that end in *.boo I get the following:-

[: too many arguments
0

And it always returns 0, even if I have lots of files...
