bash if/then on a single line
Is there a way in bash to do an if/then on a single line?

I want to do embed a command into an ssh session and check on the existance of a directory and then create it if necessary. I was able to do it in csh and it looks like this.

ssh $host_ip "if (!-d bin) mkdir bin"

How wopuld it look in bash?

else you can use the -p option of mkdir

       no error if existing, make parent directories as needed
