This is the requirement from my client. Like some kind of confidential data. I've given just an example of my file content. Suppose my file data-of-birth data coming in 91st character to 97th character (i.e, 8 characters) where record_type is 020.

I hope so Smilie as my code doesn't meddle with the original data ("in.file") but create an edited version thereof ("out.file").

As for the masking, I'd rather hide the whole date string, e.g. (in my code):
