Help with SED!!!

How would I delete everything (ALL LINES) before and after this regex:
Code:
's/.*_f.*"\(.*\)/"\1/'

I am fairly new to SED so please forgive my "noobness". Thank-you for your time.

Jared

@scottn I tried your suggestion, but my command is still not grabbing and displaying the information I'm after. I failed to mention earlier that the file I'm working with is XML.
Here is the whole command with your implementation added:
Code:
curl -s http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=$(curl -s "http://api.hostip.info/get_html.php?ip=$(curl -s icanhazip.com)" | sed -e'1d;3d' -e's/C.*: \(.*\)/\1/' -e's/ /%20/g' -e"s/'/%27/g" -e"s/-/%2d/g") | sed -n 's/.*_f.*"\(.*\)/"\1/p'

You're missing a pipe before the final sed command.

You could probably add this sed to your previous expressions with -en?

OK... you just updated your post Smilie

When I run it I get:

Code:
"/></forecast_conditions></weather></xml_api_reply>

Okay, almost there:
Code:
curl -s http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=$(curl -s "http://api.hostip.info/get_html.php?ip=$(curl -s icanhazip.com)" | sed -e'1d;3d' -e's/C.*: \(.*\)/\1/' -e's/ /%20/g' -e"s/'/%27/g" -e"s/-/%2d/g") | sed -n 's/.*<temp_f data="\(.*\)/"\1/p'

The ^above^ command cuts off everything before the data displayed, which is good, but I'm still left with a bunch of stuff trailing after the temperature.

OUTPUT:
Code:
"30"/><temp_c data="-1"/><humidity data="Humidity: 83%"/><icon data="/ig/images/weather/snow.gif"/><wind_condition data="Wind: S at 8 mph"/></current_conditions><forecast_conditions><day_of_week data="Sun"/><low data="28"/><high data="31"/><icon data="/ig/images/weather/snow.gif"/><condition data="Snow Showers"/></forecast_conditions><forecast_conditions><day_of_week data="Mon"/><low data="28"/><high data="31"/><icon data="/ig/images/weather/snow.gif"/><condition data="Snow Showers"/></forecast_conditions><forecast_conditions><day_of_week data="Tue"/><low data="31"/><high data="33"/><icon data="/ig/images/weather/snow.gif"/><condition data="Snow Showers"/></forecast_conditions><forecast_conditions><day_of_week data="Wed"/><low data="31"/><high data="34"/><icon data="/ig/images/weather/rain_snow.gif"/><condition data="Rain and Snow"/></forecast_conditions></weather></xml_api_reply>

This works:
Code:
curl -s http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=$(curl -s "http://api.hostip.info/get_html.php?ip=$(curl -s icanhazip.com)" | sed -e'1d;3d' -e's/C.*: \(.*\)/\1/' -e's/ /%20/g' -e"s/'/%27/g" -e"s/-/%2d/g") | sed -e 's/.*<t.*_f data="\(.*\)/\1/p' -e's|"/><t.*_c.*=.*|° |'

Thanks for all the help. If you find a more practical way to do this please let me know Smilie
