Not quite sure why you are renaming a remote file...
Not quite sure why you are renaming a remote file only to delete it afterwards:
ftp -i $FTPHOST <<-EOF
get INPFILE $OUTF
del INPFILE
EOF
I'm not sure you can merge two...
