You could do that with grep -E:grep -E...
You could do that with grep -E:grep -E 'hd|nm|rn|hh' , however this is cumbersome and unnecessary, since the shell has builtin pattern matching:
case $HOSTNAME in
(*hd*|*nn*|*rm*|*hh*)
echo...
