SCO507 not recognizing entire disk space on install
Hello, I'm trying to install 507 on an HP G5 ML350 server, and I've hit a snag. The installation goes fine until I try to customize the Unix partition on the harddrive--SCO will only see 50 GB of disk space (49852 to be exact).
I've installed an HP P400 Smart Array Controller and set up 2 arrays of 3 300GB hdds each, in RAID 5 for both. All hdds are detected on boot, with the correct size showing up in the raid setup screens. At the SCO installation boot prompt, I use the following boot string: defbootstr link=hpsas hd=Sdsk Sdsk=hpsas(0,0,0,0) Srom=wd(0,0,0) I insert the hba disk from the 5.790 EFS pack and install the btld driver no problems. The disk shows up in the hwconfig list and installation begins. The filesystem setup will allow me to customize both arrays, but they're both capped at 50GB. We have tried to proceed with the installation and examine the disk space afterwards, but there is no unused space; still only 50GB detected. I've tried using hba drivers from the 5.770 EFS pack. Tried different array configurations, even just using one of the 300GB drives and it always shows up as 50GB. Tried using the onboard 200i raid controller with the same drivers and bootstring with the same results. I tried to install SCO 6.0 on the machine and the correct of amount of disk space was detected, but I'd like to figure out why 507 will not work. We haven't used hard drives this big on 507 before. Is this the problem? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Overflow on either cylinders, heads, sectors/track, or tracks?
Are you setting partition sizes in megabytes, or using the fdisk/divvy option? On a side note, with 6 x 300gb drives you will get better performance with one RAID1 array of 2 drives, and a second RAID10 array of 4 drives, assuming you can live with the loss of 300gb net disk |
