Free space of total HDD ?

Friends ,

Using which command I can see the free space or usage of the Total HDD in Linux RHEL ?

suppose Imy HDD is 10GB space . I have to insall RHEL 5 using 6 GB space . Now i have 4 GB space free in my total HDD . Now using which cammand I see this 4 GB free space ?

Wating for kind reply .. ...

fdisk would only show space that has not been allocated via partitions. Most cases, the user wants to know the space available in a file system and df would be best used for that.

However, df and du go hand in hand, in that du would be good for finding the offending files that can fill up a file system, like core files and tar and tgz files that remain past their need.

MINI, type "alias" in the command prompt to see if somebody aliased bdf to df. If not, then try "which bdf" in case somebody compiled a binary for it or wrote a wrapper to df.

/bin/bdf
